El destape de Innita: la entrevista, parte 1.

El 18 de abril del 2006, se emite en Internet y canales de TV, “telegance” el video-clip del segundo sencillo de Innita, una debutante jovencita cantautora colombiana de peculiares pecas estrella, desconocida hasta ese momento. De inmediato se vuelve un éxito.  El EP, del mismo nombre que la artista, ya había lanzado un primer sencillo “La comodidad de planear el divorcio desde la noche de bodas” pero fue en este segundo lanzamiento que le realizan su correspondiente trabajo visual para promocionar a la debutante cantante en programas de video-clips. Aún cuando era sólo un EP con 5 canciones, cada una estaba hilada a manera de narrativa, en el que Innita hacía un recorrido autobiográfico de una tormentosa relación sentimental que sostuvo durante 2 años  (2003-2005) con su maestra de ballet, cuyo nombre ha preferido dejar en anonimato. La jovencita, que desde los 8 años cantaba jingles para radio y TV, quiso en su debut musical hacer testimonio del proceso de curación del corazón de una bailarina de ballet, destrozado por su maestra de ballet 15 años mayor que ella, “una mujer con corazón de hombre” como Innita canta de una de sus canciones, por lo cual opta por esperar a un hombre con corazón de mujer., para que no le vuelvan a hacer daño. Es una interesante disección que hace innita sobre la notoria ausencia de verdadera feminidad en las relaciones contemporáneas, ya que su EP incluía una selección de escritos en prosa y  poesía de su autoría, sobre el asunto. Pero la entrega testimonial y artística de su autora no dura mucho tiempo en la penumbra, y es el video la que la lanza al estrellato, ya que su baile, algo alejado del estilo de su contemporánea compatriota Shakira, gira por otros matices. El éxito del video de aquel año radica en el juego voyeurista que invade la privacidad de Innita en el mismo. El video comienza finalizando una  clase matinal de ballet, maestra y estudiantes salen del recinto, excepto innita, que sin saber que está siendo filmada y transmitida en vivo tras los espejos, coloca “telegance” en el audio de la sala y empieza a quitarse su tutú y baletas para bailar descalza y en ropa interior a lo largo de todo el salón, semejando con sus brazos tener una imaginaria pareja de baile y ya al final empieza Innita a flotar, al estilo Wendy de Peter Pan escapándose por una ventana que muestra una noche estrellada, como si mágicamente hubiera estado bailando por horas. En la escena final, mientras suena en fade-out repetitivamente la voz de Innita cantando “I’m a miracle”, se ve a todos los clandestinos espectadores empezando a salir también por las ventanas de sus casas.  EL video es premiado internacionalmente y rompe listas en los video-tops de TV. La sensualidad de niña-mujer y la fantasía de su anhelo – la lírica es la espera de un amor por reencontrar- catapulta a Innita a un prometedor estrellato y su EP es devorado por mujeres de todas las edades.

A mediados de agosto de 2006,  un segundo video, “ginotropia”, el tercer sencillo, muestra narrativamente a 2 mujeres, con trajes de los años 20, embarazadas  y siameses entre sí por su vientre en forma de corazón, y en posteriores entrevistas, confiesa que es un sueño recurrente que ella ha tenido. El video es igualmente aplaudido por la crítica y anuncia una gira mundial para mediados del 2007. Un tercer video es lanzado al inicio de su gira, la canción “no para innita”, balada y cierre narrativo de su historia, que inicia con Innita bailando en la luna  abrazada a un vacío traje negro con corbata a manera de pareja, en un despliegue de efectos en que el traje y ella se acercan paulatinamente hasta el sol, donde se van derritiendo hasta que finalmente son atraídos por la gravedad del sol y el sol crece de tamaño devorando a su vez varios planetas. Siendo también un sueño recurrente, en este caso Innita nos habla de su “pareja” imaginaria al que desde niña ha denominado “No”, su íntima ironía implícita en la espera de su pareja ideal. Es junio del 2007 y el Tour mundial de Innita comienza, pero abruptamente es cancelado pocas semanas después y ella desaparece de los medios, apenas notada por unos pocos fans que como paparazzi suben a Internet, entre fínales del 2007 e inicios del 2008,  fotos de ella en sus retomadas clases en el conservatorio de la Universidad Nacional de Bogotá.

Un año después reaparece. Antenoche, 17 de junio de 2008,  mi jefa en ZZ me llama y comenta que ha recibido un comunicado de la disquera independiente de Innita cita a un desayuno-rueda de prensa en Santa Marta para la mañana siguiente, y me consulta si vale la pena, dado que Innita parece ser “un periódico de ayer”.  Mi olfato periodístico intuye que hay algo grande, y le aconsejo que hay que asistir, y en  el primer vuelo del día siguiente viajo desde Miami hasta Santa Marta.

La rueda de prensa es en la Sala de Convenciones del hotel Playa Concordia, en el Rodadero de Santa Marta, hotel cuyo estilo es a mi parecer el más vanguardista en toda Colombia. Numerosos periodistas, menos de los que yo esperaba, se ubican en algunas sillas. Las cortinas de los ventanales están cerradas y adelante se halla Innita sentada,  sin maquillaje, al parecer recién bañada vestida con una elegantemente kitsch bata de dormir satinada de color rosa y unas botas Doc Martens con cordones rosados a medio amarrar, en remplazo de sus “mafaldas” o baletas a las que nos tenía habituados.  Frente a ella, al igual que en las mesas donde están los periodistas, hay servido un desayuno crudívoro:  jugo de naranja, torta deshidratada de espinaca,  malteada cruda de coco y nuez y banano; galletas a base de guanábana con miel de maracuyá.  El desayuno tan fresco como la brisa playera de tan temprana cita, brinda la sensación como si en realidad Innita se hubiera recién despertado y dado un baño antes de pasar a desayunar; más que de performancia, parece ser una nueva forma de teatro. La acompañan Dedé y Halo, integrantes de su banda, en las sillas al lado de ellas además de otras 2 chicas que supongo ahora hacen también parte. Detrás de Innita se halla un cuadro gigante, sobre una repisa, cubierto por un telón de terciopelo rosa, el motivo casi obvio de la rueda de prensa.

 Pasan 20 minutos más durante los que desayuno con sumo placer mientras  siguen llegando otros pocos periodistas. Finalmente, el salón se cierra y un dulce “buenos días” de la voz de Iinnita nos salud de manera afectuosa y seguidamente una de las chicas nuevas coloca una USB en el reproductor de mp3 que tienen sobre la mesa. Unos riffs rápidos de guitarra distorsionada inunda el momento. Las cortinas de los altos  ventanales de la sala se abren dejando ver una hermosa vista de playa e Innita se pone de pie, mientras Dedé, Halo y la otra chica retiran lenta y delicadamente el telón del gigante cuadro, de izquierda a derecha, revelando la inmensa foto que resulta ser innita desnuda apenas calzando las mismas botas que trae ahora. De inmediato una ráfaga de flashes iluminan copiosamente el cuadro, incluyendo el de mi cámara, claro está, al compás de las guitarras que ahora suenan acompañadas de un beat electrónico pegajoso y fuerte. Innita se levanta de su silla y se acerca al micrófono situado frente a la mesa de ella y empieza a cantar en karaoke una canción que obviamente no estaba en su repertorio ; segundos después desconecta de los amplificadores del reproductor, del mismo saca la USB, y la tira hacia nosotros sin brusquedad, más bien con elegancia, como tirando un naipe en juego de póker, y dice “lo que escucharon hace parte de ‘Mozart Was a Lesbian’ el primer sencillo de mi nuevo álbum, que lo hice por No”. Dicho esto,  Innita se desanuda su bata y la abre de par en par mostrando estar desnuda, con sus brazos en el mismo gesto cliché de un exhibicionista. Innita deja ser bañada por una lluvia de flashes durante unos largos 10 segundos de destape, se cubre de nuevo y se despide con un “hasta pronto, gracias” y sale rápidamente, junto con las otras 4 chicas, del salón.

2 horas después mi celular timbra. Es Innita en persona –bueno, en celular- que me ofrece una primera entrevista exclusiva. Acepto, por supuesto. Otro par de horas después golpeo al número de habitación que me dio,  para dar inicio a la entrevista. “hola” me dice sonriente, abultando el usual encanto de sus mejillas de pecas–estrella. Y sin embargo percibo algo nuevo, fascinante y hasta peligroso que chisporrotea en sus rosadas pupilas.

Innita in the raw: the interview, part 1.

On April 18, 2006, it’s broadcastig on the Internet and TV channels, "telegance", the video-clip of the second single of innita, a debutant young Colombian singer/ songwriter of peculiar starred-freckles star, unknown until then. It immediately becomes a success. The EP, the same name as the artist, had already launched a first single "The convenience of planning a divorce from the wedding night" (La comodidad de planear el divorcio desde la noche de bodas) but it was in this second release that it conducted its corresponding visual work to promote the debutant singer in video-clips TV channels. Even when it was just an EP with 5 songs, each was spun as a narrative, in which innita made an autobiographical trip of a stormy relationship that she held for 2 years (2003-2005) with her ballet teacher, whose name has preferred to leave anonymity. The girl, whom since 8 years-old sang jingles for radio and TV, wanted to make musical debut in her testimony to the healing process in the heart of a ballet dancer  that was shattered by her ballet master, her lover, 15 years older than her, "a woman with heart of a man " as she sings in one of her songs, so it chooses to wait for a man with heart of woman, for not being not being hurt again. It is an interesting dissection that Innita shows on the notorious lack of true femininity in contemporary relationships, since their EP included a selection of prose and poetry written by her on the matter. But the delivery of her testimonial and artistic author does not last long in the shadows; its first  video-clip is what drives her to stardom since her dancing, something away from the style of her contemporary compatriot Shakira, moves in another nuances. The success of the video that year is the voyeuristic game that invades the privacy of innita in it. The video begins finalizing a morning ballet class, teacher and students leave the campus, except innita, without knowing she is being filmed and broadcasting live behind the mirrors. She plays "telegance" in the audio-system of the room and begins to take off his Tutu and Ballet-shoes  to dance barefoot and underwear along the entire living area, resembling with her arms having a imaginary dance-partner, and at the end innita begins to float, like Wendy from Peter Pan, and escapes through a window that shows a starry night, as if magically she’d have been dancing for hours. In the final scene, while sounding a fade-out repeatedly innita's voice singing "I'm a miracle" all her clandestine spectators also beginning to emerge through the windows of their homes. THe video-clip is award-winning internationally and breaks in the video-tops lists on TV. The sensuality of girl-woman and fantasy of her yearning - lyricism is awaiting a love  to rediscover- catapults  Innita to a promising stardom and her EP is devoured by women of all ages.

In mid-August 2006, a second video, "ginotropia" third single, shows narratively 2 women, with costumes of the 20s, and pregnant with her Siamese womb heart-shaped, and in subsequent interviews, Innita confesses it’s a recurring dream she had. The video is equally praised by critics and then it’s announced a world tour for mid-2007. A third video was launched at the beginning of her tour, the song "No for innita"(No para Innita), ballad and narrative closure of its history, which began with innita dancing on the moon embraced an empty suit with black tie as dance-partner, in a high-quality of effects, showing gradually the costume and she coming nearer to the sun, where they are melting until they finally are attracted by the gravity of the sun and the sun grows in size, devouring several planets. Being also a recurring dream, in this case innita tells us about his imaginary "soul-mate" that she has called "No" since she was child, her intimate irony implicit in the hopes of her match. It is June 2007 and the world tour of  Innita starts, but was abruptly canceled a few weeks later and she disappears from the media, hardly noticed by a few fans, as paparazzi, uploading photos of her to the Internet, between late 2007 and early 2008, again incorporated in her classes at the conservatory of the National University of Bogotá.

A year later reappeared. 2 nights ago, June 17, 2008, my boss called me in ZZ and says it has received a communiqué from the independent label of Innita mentioning a breakfast press conference in Santa Marta for the next morning, and she query whether it's worth Since innita seems to be " yesterday news". My journalistic nose senses that it’s something big, and i must advise her to attend this, and the first flight the next day traveling from Miami to Santa Marta.

The press conference is in the hotel Room of Conventions of  Hotel Beach Concordia, in Rodadero de Santa Marta, whose style hotel is in my opinion the most avant-garde throughout Colombia. Many journalists, fewer than those expected, are located in some chairs. The curtains of the windows are closed and forth is sitting Innita, without makeup, apparently freshly washed, elegantly dressed in a kitsch pink satin sleeping gown and using Doc Martens boots with laces medium pink tie, in replacement of her " Mafalda "/ ballet shoes which we were accustomed from her. In front of her, as same as at the tables where journalists are , there is served a raw-vegan breakfast: orange juice, dehydrated spinach cake, raw nut and coconut and banana “milk’-shake; raw guanábana cake with passion- fruit honey. The breakfast as fresh as the breeze peach of such so early appointment gives the impression as if  innita was really recently awakened and given a bath before going to breakfast  -rather than a performance, seems to be a new form of theater. the chairs next to her, she’s accompanying by Dedé and Halo, members of her band, in addition to 2 other girls who are now makes  part of the band too, I suppose. Behind innita there’s  is a huge picture covered by a velvet curtain rose, over a shelf ,the most obvious reason for the press conference.

It spends 20 minutes more, during I eat breakfast with great pleasure, while a few other journalists continue to arrive. Finally, the hall is closed and a sweet "good morning" emerges from the voice of innita affectionately, then one of the girls put a new USB in the mp3 player they have on the table. Some speed-guitar riffs distorted flooded the moment. The curtains of the high windows of the hall are opened leaving see a beautiful view of beach and Innita is standing, while Dedé, Halo and the other girl slowly and delicately removed the curtain of giant picture, from left to right, revealing the huge photo turns out to be innita naked, wearing nothing but  the same boots that brings now. Immediately a burst of flashes illuminate copiously the photo, including my camera, of course, along with the beat of the guitars that sound now accompanied by an electronic beat sticky and strong. Innita rises from her chair and approaches to the microphone in front of the table and she begins to sing “karaoke-ly” a song that obviously was not in her former repertoire; seconds later she disconnected mp3-player from the amplifiers, and takes out the USB, and strip towards us without abruptness, rather elegantly, like pulling a card game in poker, and said "what we heard is part of 'Mozart Was a Lesbian', the first single from my new album, which I did by No." (note: she said Por No in a untranslatable Spanish word game) . Being said that, innita is untying her gown and opened widely to be showing naked, with her arms in the same gesture cliché of an exhibitionist. Innita permits to be washed by a rain of flashes for about 10 long seconds in the raw, she dresses again and says goodbye with a "see you soon, thanks" and leaves quickly, along with the other 4 girls, the room.

2 hours later my cell phone rings. It’s innita. She offers me a first exclusive interview. I agree, of course. Another couple of hours later I knock in her room to begin the interview. "Hello" she says smiling, bulking the usual charm of her cheeks full of starry-freckles. Yet I see something new, fascinating and even dangerous sparking in their pink eyes.
